While Giving Back to the Community

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Area Organized Retail Crimes Association (LAAORCA) a partnership between law enforcement and retail loss prevention professionals is hosting its first annual LAAORCA Softball Tournament.

The event will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Big League Dreams Sports Complex in West Covina. LAAORCA members will collect toys and clothing to benefit “Para Los Niños” a non-profit organization.

Para Los Niños provides high quality, enriched, nurturing child development services to over 800 children from primarily low-income families at seven locations throughout Los Angeles County. Programs and services include; A Charter School, After-School Programs, Youth Development, Family Services, and Clinical Services.

In the spirit of giving back to the community during a financially difficult holiday season, law enforcement entities, including the United States Secret Service, loss prevention professionals, and major retailers from throughout the greater Los Angeles area will come together to network and team build. Participants in this event will not only donate their own time, but they will donate gifts to benefit Los Angeles area youth and young adults.

Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) invites anyone interested in volunteering or supporting this worthwhile event to contact LAPD’s Commercial Crimes Division at 213-486-8739.  LAPD’s Central Area Officers will be on hand to collect all gifts and deliver them to the good people at Para Los Niños. Interested persons may also go to LAAORCA.org for additional information.
