WHY: Since 1985 Shelter Partnership, Inc. has worked to solve homelessness in Los Angeles County through policy analysis, program design and resource development. In addition, the non-profit organization has been a strong advocate in support of agencies and local governments that serve the homeless community.

This year, Shelter Partnership will honor Los Angeles Police Officer Deon Joseph for his dedicated work with the homeless community in Skid Row. Officer Joseph has been working for over 14 years with the Safer Cities Initiative (SCI) to address quality of life issues in the Skid Row area of Downtown Los Angeles. SCI works in conjunction with the Los Angeles Homeless Service Association and the Los Angeles County of Department of Mental Health to provide direct services to the residents of Skid Row.
