Rampart Surprises Cadets with Gym NA15105jk

May 22, 2015

WHAT: Los Angeles Police Department Rampart Area officers surprises 65 unsuspecting cadets and their families with a brand new state of the art gym.

WHEN: Saturday, May 23rd, 2015 11:00 a.m.

WHERE: Rampart Community Police Station 1401 West 6th Street Los Angeles, CA 90017

WHO: Captain III, Brian Pratt, Rampart Area Captain I, Jeff Nolte, LAPD Rampart Area Rampart Area Senior Lead and Community Relations Officers Cadets and their families

WHY: Local community members, businesses, neighborhood councils and Rampart officers, have donated and raised approximately $23,000 in less than three months in order to purchase a brand new gym for the Youth Program. The gym was built inside the parking structure of Rampart Police Station providing a safe haven for the cadets to grow both physically and mentally.

Our hope is that through this new program, a stronger community bond with law enforcement will grow, directly impacting the gang activity in the area. Cadets will work out alongside the officers who could offer mentorship and foster positive relationships. Cadets’ ages range from 13-21 years of age, some of whom are current college students who still participate in the program.

VISUALS: The gym itself includes: a punching bag, row machine, kettle bells, plyometric boxes, conditioning ropes and much more. Two wall murals will also be unveiled and dedicated to the Cadet Program as well as the Rampart community who made this gym possible.
