Captain Jamie Bennett is a 28-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department and was appointed to the department in January, 1995. As a police officer, he was assigned to Newton, Southeast, and Central Divisions.
Upon promotion to the rank of Detective, he remained at Central Division where he was assigned to the Homicide Unit. Later in his career, as a Detective Supervisor, he was selected to work Special Operations Division.
In 2009, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he held assignments in Southeast, Southwest, and Harbor Divisions. In 2016, he was selected as the Officer in Charge of the Operations-South Bureau Special Event Unit.
In 2017, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant where he was assigned to Southeast Division as a Watch Commander and Gang Impact Team, Officer in Charge. As a Lieutenant, he was selected for additional assignments at Transit Services Bureau and Operations-West Bureau as the Chief’s adjutant. Most recently, he was assigned as the Officer in Charge of Special Operations Division.
In February, 2023, he was identified for promotion to Captain and assigned as the Commanding Officer of Foothill Patrol. In December 2023, he was promoted to Captain II and assigned as the Commanding Officer of South Bureau Homicide Division.
Captain Bennett is a graduate of California State Long Beach where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. In his free time, he enjoys the ocean, four-wheeling, and spending time with family.
