Captain Michael McComas has been a sworn law enforcement officer for over 31 years, having previously served with the Pasadena Police Department and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. In 2003, Captain McComas joined the Los Angeles Police Department as a Police Specialist. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice, from Arizona State University.
Upon joining the Los Angeles Police Department in 2003, Captain McComas was assigned to Devonshire Division. Captain McComas was promoted to Sergeant in January 2008 and worked as a Patrol Sergeant, Detective table supervisor, Assistant Officer in Charge, Internal Affairs Investigator, and Assistant Watch Commander.
Captain McComas was promoted to Lieutenant in July 2018 and worked as a Patrol and Traffic Watch Commander. In April 2023, Captain McComas became the Officer in Charge of the Valley Financial Section of Commercial Crimes Division. He was later appointed as the Officer in Charge of the Organized Retail Crime Task Force. In September 2024, he was assigned to Southwest Patrol Division as the Patrol Commanding Officer and officially promoted to the rank of Police Captain on October 6, 2024.
