Bio

The daughter of a 37-year Los Angeles Police Department veteran, Captain Lisa Ruvalcaba began her career with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in July of 2000. After graduating from the police academy, Captain Ruvalcaba worked a variety of assignments including patrol, juvenile detectives, and vice in Devonshire, Van Nuys and Mission Areas. She also held positions as the Assistant Vice Coordinator, and as a member of the Training Unit while assigned to Operations-Valley Bureau.

In 2014, she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and served as a patrol and vice supervisor in Mission Area. In 2016, Captain Ruvalcaba was upgraded to the rank of Sergeant II as the Training Coordinator in North Hollywood Area. She also held assignments as the Commander’s Aide at Media Relations Group, Investigator at Force Investigation Division, and as the Adjutant to the Commanding Officer of Professional Standards Bureau.

Captain Ruvalcaba promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2021 and was assigned as the Watch Commander in Devonshire Division. In 2022 she was upgraded to Lieutenant II where she served as the Adjutant to the Director of the Office of Operations. In 2023, she promoted to the rank of Captain and serves as the Commanding Officer of Mission Patrol Division.

Captain Ruvalcaba attended Moorpark College and California State University Northridge, where she earned her Associates Degree and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. Captain Ruvalcaba is married to an LAPD Sergeant and they have two children.
