Juvenile Arrested for Bringing a Loaded Weapon to School

Los Angeles: On Monday, February 7, 2005, a teacher from Sylmar High School over heard students talking about a ninth grade student who was showing off a gun on campus. The teacher made notification to the school administrators, who conducted an immediate investigation. The Dean of Students recovered a loaded .380 caliber pistol from the juvenile’s backpack. The fourteen-year-old ninth grader was arrested for having a loaded handgun on campus, and he was booked into Sylmar Juvenile Hall.
The gun was registered to the boy’s mother. Detectives believe the boy’s motive for bringing the gun to school was to sell it. The juvenile has no documentation of gang associations or prior criminal history.
