Murder Investigation in Sunland

Sunland – On Saturday, June 30, 2001, at 6:51 p.m., Foothill Area patrol officers responded to a radio call of a "Dead Body Investigation" at Wheatland Avenue and the 210 Freeway in the Sunland area of Foothill Division. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a deceased female, in her mid-forties, dead inside a shack. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The cause of death was blunt force trauma.
The officers were led to the scene through information received from an Arizona Highway Patrolman who arrested a drunk driving suspect in Arizona. The suspect implicated himself in the death of the victim. Detectives will interview the suspect as soon as possible.
The motive for the murder has not been determined.
