Search Warrant Reveals Large Cash Crop of Marijuana Plants and Marijuana Edibles NR15294dm

August 28, 2015

Sun Valley: LAPD’s Transnational
Organized Crime Section in conjunction with LAPD’s Foothill
Division narcotics, Homeland Security Investigations and Customs
and Border Protection conducted a search warrant at a warehouse
located in the Sun Valley area.

On Thursday, August 27, 2015, officers conducted a search warrant
at the Herbal Relief Care Giver located in the 7600 block of
Clybourne Avenue. The search warrant focused on the owner of Herbal
Relief Care Givers, who had converted the rear warehouse into a
marijuana cultivation operation. The preliminary investigation
revealed that the owner of both facilities was using the space to
illegally grow marijuana. During the search officers seized
hundreds of marijuana plants, with an estimated street value of
$500,000. Officers also seized marijuana edibles, such as Sour
Gummy worms and donuts, which could easily attract children.

The investigation and subsequent search warrant is another example
of the corruptive influence of illegal marijuana growth in
California. Investigators believe this kind of unregulated
operation places an enormous risk to the community and surrounding
legitimate business in the area.
