WHY: As criminals become more sophisticated in their techniques for stealing automobiles, the Los Angeles Police Department has developed partnerships with our communities and the technology to safeguard property. Many officers have heard the radio call, “LoJack activation” when a stolen vehicle is identified and eventually recovered. While most stolen vehicles are returned to their owners, the LAPD is committed to reducing the stolen vehicle rate in Los Angeles.
