December 11, 2015

WHAT: LAPD Harbor Area will host Hero’s and Helper’s Event

WHEN: Friday, December 11, 2015 8:00 a.m. – 10 a.m.

WHERE: Target 1701 N. Gaffey Street San Pedro, CA 90731

WHO: LAPD Captain Kathryn Meek, Area Commanding Officer, Harbor Area LAPD Captain Gary Walters, Patrol Commanding Officer, Harbor Patrol LAPD Area Personnel and Community Police Advisory Board Members

WHY: Harbor Area in partnership with the San Pedro Target store will be participating in the Heroes and Helpers program. Officers, civilian employees and Community Police Advisory Board members from the LAPD Harbor Division will pair with community volunteers to go shopping for a day with children in need. For the past several years, Target and local public safety organizations across the country have held events similar to Heroes & Helpers in communities, bringing kids and families holiday cheer. Sergeant Catherine Plows, Harbor Area Community Relations Office said, “This program allows Target and the Harbor Division to come together and help make the holidays a little better for several deserving children and families. I believe it is important that children have positive interactions like this with their police department and know that the community supports them. The program started by Target helps local heroes support their communities and another way for the Los Angeles Police Department Harbor Division to give back to the community they serve.”
