Fatal Hit And Run In Rampart Area NR16405aj

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department Central Traffic detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect involved in a hit and run that killed 47-year-old Eugenia Pelagio.

On December 31, 2016, around 1:55 a.m., Eugenia Pelagio, a resident of Anaheim, was crossing 2nd Street southbound between Emerald Street and Beaudry Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on 2nd Street. The vehicle was described as a gray SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer. The driver never slowed down or stop to render aid. The vehicle fled eastbound on 2nd Street.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported Pelagio to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
