Target and LAPD Partner to Launch New Crime Fighting Capabilities

WHAT:   
News Conference announcing the formation of a unique public-private partnership between the Los Angeles Police Department’s Regional Crime Center and Target to foster safe families and communities in Southern California.  To that end, Target Corporation will present a $200,000 donation to the Los Angeles Police Foundation.  The gift will help to develop a state of the art situational awareness tool for LAPD’s Regional Crime Center.

WHY:   
The donation from the Target Corporation will help to develop a state of the art situational awareness tool for the LAPD’s Regional Crime Center.  The system will allow for real time visual mapping of police major calls for service throughout the City. In addition, the system will automatically query Department records to conduct an immediate on-demand proximity analysis for each incident, allowing officers to more easily discern patterns and provide responding officers and detectives with investigative leads.
    
The Los Angeles Police Foundation will facilitate the grant from Target, and is a major source of private funding for the LAPD.  The Foundation’s mission is to create partnerships to provide resources and programs that helps the police to better our communities.  For more information regarding the Foundation, please visit: www.lapolicefoundation.org.
