Los Angeles:  Gang violence appears to be the motive in the shooting death of a 17-year-old male Hispanic. His name is being withheld until his family can be notified.

On Saturday, July 16, 2011, at about 8:30 p.m., Hollenbeck Area Officers were called to the area of 300 West Avenue 33 to investigate a shooting. When they arrived they found the victim in front of a closed business, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Los Angeles City Fire Rescue Department personnel responded and transported the victim to USCMC where he died a short time later.

Detectives believe the victim had been riding his bicycle through a mostly industrial area when he encountered several apparent gang members who opened fire on him as he attempted to pedal away.
