Chief Bratton Announces Command Staff Promotions

Los Angeles:  Effective March, 29, 2009, Commander Kirk J. Albanese will be appointed to the rank of Deputy Chief and Captain Jeffrey L. Greer will be promoted to the rank of Commander.

Commander Kirk J. Albanese is currently assigned as the Assistant to the Director, Office of Operations.  His career with the Los Angeles Police Department began on November 17, 1980.  During his 28 years of service, he has held assignments in patrol, gang enforcement, narcotics, Internal Affairs, Juvenile and administrative positions.  As a commanding officer, he has held command positions at 77th Street Community Police Station, Juvenile Division, Wilshire Community Police Station, Foothill Community Police Station and is also credited with planning and opening Mission Community Police Station which opened on May 1, 2005.  Upon promotion to Commander, on January 29, 2006, he held the position of Assistant Commanding Officer of Operations-West Bureau.

Commander Albanese is a member of several professional and community-based organizations, including, the Los Angeles County Peace Officer Association, the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the California State Juvenile Officers Association.  He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from the University of Phoenix.     

Upon his appointment, Deputy Chief Kirk Albanese will assume command of Operations-South Bureau.
     
Jeffrey L. Greer is currently assigned as Commanding Officer of Metropolitan Division.  Captain Greer entered the Los Angeles Police Academy on January 26, 1981.  Since joining the Department he has worked a variety of patrol, investigative, and staff assignments.  On October 31, 2004, Greer was appointed to the rank of Captain and assigned to Foothill Community Police Station.  In October of 2006, Captain Greer was assigned to Metropolitan Division, where he will serve until his promotion to commander.  

Captain Greer is a graduate of the Supervisory Leadership Institute and the 208th Session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy.  He is a member of the FBI National Academy Associates, National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, International Association of Chiefs of Police, Peace Officers Association of Los Angeles County, Association of Black Law Enforcement Executives, and the Oscar Joel Bryant Foundation.  He holds a Bachelors of Science degree, in Criminal Justice from Western Michigan University.
