Police Torch Run to Benefit Special Olympics

Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Los Angeles River bridge

Central Avenue and 7th Street

WHO
Captain Jodi Wakefield will carry the torch, escorted by other officers running in formation

Three athletes and their coach from the Special Olympics will follow in a stake-bed truck.

ADDITIONAL
•LAPD officers from Hollenbeck Area will pass the torch to Central officers on the LA River Bridge.
•Next leg will exchange at 7th Street and Central Avenue. A police car will be parked there, and an officer will direct media who want to film the exchange.
•The three Special Olympic athletes, their coach, and Captain Wakefield will be available for interviews at the end of the leg.

COURSE
The torch run will follow Chavez Blvd to Los Angeles Street, south to 6th Street, east to Central, and south to 7th Street, where the runner will pass the torch to officers assigned to Newton Street Area.

The Newton officers will follow a course that ends at Washington Blvd and Main Street, for a second leg, run by Central officers through downtown.
