West Bureau Homicide is responsible for investigating murders and undetermined deaths in the 124 square miles encompassing some of the most diverse areas of the City of Los Angeles. The Bureau includes such neighborhoods as Koreatown, the most densely populated area in the City, the worldwide tourist mecca of Hollywood, the sun-drenched shores of Venice Beach, and the sprawling wilderness area in West Los Angeles. Other notable neighborhoods include: Pacific Palisades, Westwood, Century City, Hancock Park, the Miracle Mile, and the Los Angeles International Airport.
West Bureau Homicide was formed in January, 2012 with the merger and consolidation of homicide investigators from Hollywood, Wilshire, West Los Angeles, Pacific and Olympic Areas.
An investigation in West Bureau might take a detective from a homeless encampment to a Bel Air mansion. Our detectives are ready to tackle any investigation, and we take pride in the fact that we pursue every investigation with the same energy, whether the victim is an unidentified transient or a Hollywood Hills billionaire. Every life has value, and every criminal homicide is deserving of a thorough and unbiased search for the truth.
