grew up in the northeast part of Los Angeles and
still has close ties to that community. He moved to Los Angles
after migrating from Italy with his parents to the United States at
the age of ten.

Commander Palazzolo joined the Los Angeles Police Department in
1990. Since his graduation from the LAPD Academy, he has worked a
wide variety of assignments, in the many diverse communities of the
City. His assignments as an officer have included patrol
operations, traffic investigation, undercover surveillance, vice,
and various special enforcement units. As a sergeant and
lieutenant, he was assigned as a patrol supervisor, watch
commander, Internal Affairs, Force Investigation Division, staff
adjutant and as a member of various strategic task forces.

In 2010 Commander Palazzolo was promoted to Captain and was
assigned as the Patrol Commanding Officer of Southwest Area,
located just south of downtown Los Angeles, and home to the
University of Southern California and the iconic Los Angeles
Memorial Coliseum.

In 2012 Commander Palazzolo was promoted to Captain II and was
assigned to Internal Affairs Criminal Investigation Division. In
2013 he was transferred to Metropolitan (Metro) Division. Metro, as
it is commonly known, is one of the most prestigious special
operations policing units in the country if not the world, and is
tasked with carrying out many of the Departments special details,
including dignitary protection, specialized crime suppression,
Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Equine (Mounted) operations,
Police K-9, and underwater dive and maritime operations.

In February 2015 Commander Palazzolo was promoted to Captain III
and assigned as the Commanding Officer of Olympic Area. Commander
Palazzolo welcomed this assignment in that it once again gave him
an opportunity to work closely with a community rich in diversity
and with an outstanding workforce that is committed to serving its
community and with the reputation of the highest work ethic.

In June 2016, Commander Palazzolo was promoted to Commander and is
currently assigned as the Assistant to the Director, Office of
Special Operations. In addition, he also serves as the Department's
Diplomatic Liaison officer.

Commander Palazzolo holds a Bachelor's degree in Business, is a
graduate of the Delinquency Control Institute at the University of
Southern California, the West Point Leadership Institute, the
Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute, the Israeli College
for Security and Investigation, and the United States Secret
Service Dignitary Protective Seminar.
