In 2012, Commander Goddard was promoted to Lieutenant and began his
new assignment in West Los Angeles (WLA) Patrol as a Watch
Commander. He then became the Detective Commanding Officer,
responsible for all criminal investigations for WLA Detectives, and
significantly contributed to WLA's crime-fighting strategies. After
six years at WLA, Captain Goddard moved to Pacific Area as the
Commanding Officer for Pacific Detective Division, where he served
until his promotion in 2019 to Captain. Commander Goddard returned
to WLA Area as the Patrol Commanding Officer, where he was awarded
the 2019 Excellence in Leadership Award for WLA -- finishing No. 1
in the Department for overall Part I crime reduction. In 2020,
Commander Goddard moved to Newton Area as the Patrol Commanding
Officer, and in 2021, he took over as the Commanding Officer of
Innovation Management Division. Commander Goddard is honored to be
promoted to Commander by Chief Moore and assigned as the Assistant
