Shooting Victim, Found Dead in a Vehicle

Los Angeles: Rampart Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a male Black, approximately 46 years of age. The shooting occurred at 740 N. New Hampshire Avenue.
On Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at approximately 3:45 p.m. Rampart Patrol Officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon Investigation in the 700 block of North New Hampshire Avenue. On arrival, deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, assigned to Los Angeles City College met the officers. A security guard from the Braille Institute informed the deputies that a male, who appeared unconscious was in a green Chevrolet Blazer. The deputies responded to the vehicle and observed the front passenger window had been shattered. Additionally, they observed numerous spent bullet casings located around the vehicle. The deputies located the victim in the rear of the vehicle, deceased.
Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded and the victim dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed the victim sustained numerous gunshot wounds and died from his injuries.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of Kin. The motive for this shooting is unknown. The suspects and weapons are outstanding.
