"Korean Business Owner Murdered, During a Business Dispute"
 
Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department, Wilshire Operations Support Division Homicide Detectives, are investigating the shooting death of Jim Kim, a Male Korean, 44 years of age. On May 3, 2002, at approximately 1:57am Los Angeles Police, Wilshire patrol units responded to a radio call of an "Ambulance ADW Shots Fired" at the 3600 Block of West 6th Street. Upon arrival, the responding officers found the victim, who had been struck by a single gunshot in the upper torso, lying inside his business at the above address. A Los Angeles Fire Department Rescue Ambulance responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
According to witness statements, it was believed that there was a dispute between several individuals unknown to the victim, in the parking lot outside of the victim’s business, just prior to the shooting. During this confrontation, several gunshots were fired, and it was at this time that the victim, who was in the background of the intended victim(s), was struck by gunfire. The suspect is believed to be a male, Asian, unknown age. The weapon used was an unknown caliber handgun, still outstanding.
