Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision in Panorama City NR12359cj

Los Angeles:  The LAPD Valley Traffic Division Detectives are asking for the public’s help with providing information about a hit-and-run that occurred in Panorama City.

On Saturday July 28, 2012, around 8:30 p.m., LAPD Valley Traffic officers received a call of a traffic collision in the area of Parthenia Street and Orion Avenue.  When the officers arrived, they discovered a man on the ground who was suffering from injuries. Los Angeles Fire Department rescue personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives believe that a man driving a possible Chevrolet white pick-up truck with orange racing stripes was traveling eastbound on Parthenia Street across Orion Avenue when he collided with a pedestrian crossing southbound in the east crosswalk. The driver failed to stop, identify himself or render aid. The pedestrian has been identified as a 36-year-old male resident of Panorama City. Notification to next of kin is pending.

The suspect is described as a 20 to 35-year-old Hispanic male. He is bald and heavyset. Due to the collision the car may have sustained major front-end damage and a broken windshield toward the passenger side.  The investigation is ongoing,
