Street Racing Results in Fatal Traffic Collision NR19217jc

Mission Hills: On Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at 9:55 p.m., a fatal traffic collision occurred as a result of illegal street racing. A white 1994 Mazda Sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Woodman Avenue before losing control and colliding with a parked Dark Blue 2007 GMC Yukon. A witness stated that the driver of the white Mazda was operating his vehicle recklessly at a high rate of speed and racing against a white sedan prior to the collision. The other white sedan involved in the race continued northbound on Woodman Avenue toward Devonshire Street without stopping or rendering aid.

The driver of the Mazda, a male in his 30’s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification next of kin.

A female passenger of the Mazda sustained minor injuries and was transported by the Los Angeles Fire Department to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Drivers are reminded that they must obey the rules of the road, speed kills, and reckless driving & street racing will not be tolerated in the City of Los Angeles.
