On August 26, 1990, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the victim and suspect Garcia became involved in an argument at the El Charro Bar at 251 North Vermont Avenue, in the Rampart Area of Los Angeles. Suspect Garcia produced a knife and stabbed the victim to death. The suspect has relatives living in the unincorporated area of East Los Angeles and in the San Francisco Bay area. Shortly after the murder, the suspect telephoned the victim’s father from San Francisco. He also has relatives living in Durango, Mexico.
