Los Angeles: On Sunday, January 4, 2004, at about 1:30 a.m., a birthday party was taking place in the 3700 block of Normandie Avenue. The suspect arrived at the location and provoked an altercation between himself and a guest of the party. During the altercation the suspect was knocked to the ground. A short time later the suspect got up and drew an unknown caliber handgun. The suspect began to shoot into a group that included adults and children. A 10 year-old victim sustained a gunshot wound to the head and his mother was wounded in both legs.
The suspect Terry Lamount Newman is described as a male Black, black hair, brown eyes, 6’01", 170-200 pounds, 25 years of age and is considered armed and dangerous. He fled the location in a black, 1998 Pontiac Grand AM, California License Plate No. 5BGE607.
The 10 year-old child is at a local hospital listed in critical condition and his mother was treated and released for her injuries.

UPDATE: On Sunday, January 4, 2004, at about 1:00 p.m. the suspect Terry Lamount Newman was arrested at a local hospital for this crime.
