Opens https://lacity.gov/directory in a new window.Los Angeles: On December 3, 2022, the Los Angeles Police Department held the ‘13th Annual Gun Buyback’, which was hosted in conjunction with The Mayor’s Office: GRYD (Gang Reduction Youth Development) program.
This event resulted in an increase of 69% compared to the gun buyback hosted on March 2022, as well as the largest turnout and participation since 2018. Additionally, this year’s event resulted in the largest number of ghost guns recovered at a gun buyback event. The firearms recovered are as follows:
Rifles – 138
Shot Guns – 80
Pistols – 168
Assault Weapons – 13
Ghost Guns – 38
Machine Guns – 21
Other – 1
Grand Total- 459
