Los Angeles: On Monday, March 10, 2003, at 7:00 p.m. detectives from the Abused Child Unit responded to the 300 block of West 67th Street for the suspicious death of a seven-month-old Hispanic baby boy. The victim had been transported earlier that day to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m.
The detectives’ investigation revealed that the victim’s 17-year-old Hispanic mother had intentionally suffocated the baby, then several hours later called 9-1-1 for help.
Abused Child Unit Detectives arrested the 17-year-old mother for Penal Code Section 187 (A), Murder. The subject is being held at Juvenile Hall on 1,000,000.00 bail.
