Los Angeles: An 18-year-old who was beaten severely by a group of men outside of a night club, died three days later at a hospital.
On November 24, 2007, at around 1:45 a.m., Marco Antonio Herrera of Reseda was with a group of his friends who were leaving the Red Square nightclub located at 20001 Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills. As Herrera and his group exited the club they became involved in an argument with a group of Armenian men and a lone African American man. Several fights broke out between the two groups during which Herrera was knocked to the ground. While on the ground, Herrera was punched and kicked repeatedly in the head causing major head trauma. The suspects drove away in various vehicles.
Herrera was taken to Northridge Medical Center by his friends where he was admitted in extremely critical condition. Three days later, on November 27, Herrera died from his injuries.
Detectives are attempting to identify the owners of the cars driven by the suspects. The vehicles being sought are a 2002-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, white in color, with gray trim on the lower portion of the vehicle, and a 2005-2007 Chrysler 300, cream color, with a sunroof and over-sized chrome wheels. Anyone who may have been at the location and saw either of these vehicles is encouraged to contact police.
Detectives are also looking for anyone who may have been at the club on the night of the incident who may have information on this crime.
