In 1994, deputies from the Los AngelesCounty Sheriff’s Department (LASD) were working patrol in East Los Angeles when they met a young boy stricken with cancer. The deputies were so inspired by their new young friend that they brought together the law enforcement community and their passion for boxing to raise money for him and his family, ultimately improving their quality of life. Since then, police officers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and deputies from the LASD have been raising money to benefit people stricken with life-threatening diseases and illnesses through the competitive Fight for Life boxing charity event. To date, the Fight for Life has raised nearly $1 million for the City of Hope.
