"20 Year-Old Dies in Fatal Traffic Collision"

Los Angeles – Valley Traffic Detectives are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on October 10, 2000 at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Jose Luis Gomez Jr., a 20-year-old and a resident of North Hollywood was traveling southbound on Sunland Boulevard in a 1990 Mazda when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and crossed over into the northbound lane at Stonehurst Avenue. The vehicle driven by Gomez collided with the front of a 2000 Dodge Intrepid that was negotiating a left turn onto Stonehurst Avenue.

The Los Angeles Fire Department and Paramedics responded and pronounced Gomez dead at the scene of the collision. The victim of the Dodge Intrepid was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

There was no apparent evidence of a crime and this incident is currently being investigated as a traffic accident.
