Los Angeles: On September 17, 1990, at around 3 a.m., Humberto Ramos Delgado was stopped at a tri-light at the intersection of 7th Street and Stanford. He was approached by a male Black suspect who opened the passenger side door of his truck, and pointed a gun at him. The suspect fired one round hitting Delgado in the chest. Delgado was pronounced dead at the scene from a single gunshot wound.
Investigative leads at the time revealed that Delgado was shot during an apparent robbery attempt. However the case remained unsolved for 22 years.
In September of 2012, the Newton Area, Homicide Unit’s Cold Case Team, reviewed the unsolved murder investigation. After several months of follow-up investigation, the suspect was identified as 61-year-old Earl Maynard.
On November 27, 2012, Maynard was located in Hollywood and arrested for murder. Murder charges were filed with District Attorney’s Office.
