"$25,000 Reward for Double Murder Suspect(s)"

UPDATE

Los Angeles – On Thursday, October 19, 2000 at 3:00 p.m., a press conference will be held at Clarence Street south of 1st Street. Councilman Nick Pacheco will announce a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s) responsible for the murder of a 10 year-old and 19 year-old that occurred on October 8, 2000.

On October 8, 2000, at approximately 5:50 p.m., a gang related shooting occurred in the 100 block of Clarence Street. Raymond Hernandez, 19 years of age, was washing a car in front of 122 Clarence Street when numerous gunshots rang out. Hernandez was hit by the gunfire and died at the scene. Subsequently, Stephanie Raygoza, 10 years of age, was riding a scooter on the sidewalk in front of her residence when a stray bullet struck her. Victim Raygoza’s parents transported her to White Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead by Doctor Bautista at 6:25 p.m.

One suspect has been arrested, however the identity is being withheld pending further investigation.

The investigation is being conducted by Hollenbeck Homicide Detectives S. Smith and J. Ramirez. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the investigating detectives at 323-526-3002.
