Los Angeles: On February 9, 2003, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Newton Area patrol officers responded to a shots fired radio call in the 200 block of West 65th Street in the city of Los Angeles.
Upon their arrival, the officers discovered the body of a 35 year-old male Black lying on the sidewalk with what appeared to be several gunshot wounds. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics transported the victim to Martin Luther King Medical Center where he failed to respond to treatment and was pronounced dead at 7:42 p.m.
At this time, the motive for the shooting is unknown. No witnesses have come forward. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
