Where: Mission Area Police Station 11121 North Sepulveda Boulevard Mission Hills

On Memorial Day, May 30, 2005, at about 3:00 PM, a gang shooting occurred in the vicinity of 14500 Brand Boulevard in Mission Hills. The suspects, who are believed to be rival gang members, exchanged gunfire from car to car. An innocent 43 year-old resident of Mission Hills was shot in the abdomen by one of the stray bullets. She has been hospitalized for several weeks.

Despite an exhausting investigation by the assigned investigators, the identities of the assailants remain unknown. In an effort to generate additional leads, a motion was presented to the Los Angeles City Council by Councilman Alex Padilla, requesting the Council to offer a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest, prosecution, and conviction of the suspects responsible for the shooting.

Councilman Alex Padilla and representatives from the Los Angeles Police Department will attend the news conference. The victim and family members are unavailable for the news conference.
