Why: On November 16, 2006, at about 9:10 PM, Francisco Garnica, 15, was fatally shot while walking on the east sidewalk of Lankershim Boulevard. Unknown suspects approached Francisco and shot him. The suspects then fled in a silver or green four-door car. Francisco died on the sidewalk, one apartment building away from where he lived.

The area in which Francisco resided is gang turf claimed by a North Hollywood gang (18th Street). At or about the time of Francisco’s murder, gang members from that gang occupied and loitered in, around or near the apartment buildings.

It is the investigating detectives’ opinion that there are witnesses to this shooting who are reluctant to come forward out of fear of retaliation.

On June 5, the Los Angeles City Council approved a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects responsible for Francisco’s murder.
