Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department Central Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the identification of the suspect involved in a hit-and-run collision that resulted in the death of 22-year-old, Manuel Enrique Mendoza-Hernandez, a resident of Los Angeles.
On Sunday, June 7, 2015, around 8:30 p.m., a fatal hit and run traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Slauson Avenue and San Pedro Place in Newton Area.
The collision occurred when Mendoza-Hernandez was riding his bicycle along the south sidewalk of Slauson Avenue, just east of San Pedro Place. Mendoza-Hernandez rode his bicycle off the sidewalk and into the path of a vehicle making a right turn from San Pedro Place onto Slauson Avenue. Mendoza-Hernandez was knocked to the pavement and run over by the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and failed to render aid as mandated by law.
Mendoza-Hernandez was pronounced dead at scene by paramedics.
There were no witnesses to the collision. The evidence recovered at the scene revealed that the hit and run vehicle may possibly be a Toyota Corolla, unknown year or color.
The investigation is being conducted by Central Traffic Division Detectives.
