WHY:
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) are hosting the 6th Annual LAPD & LAFD Safe Summer Tip-off Youth Safety Festival and Basketball Game. A FREE community event, scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2015, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Los Angeles Police and Fire Departments aim to bring young people together from all neighborhoods throughout the Southern California and City of Los Angeles regions in a positive and exciting environment.

This year’s event will include an outdoor festival providing the attendees an opportunity to learn about emergency preparedness, summer safety and local resources.

Featured at the event will be a spirited basketball game between 5-time defending Safe Summer Tip-off Champions, LAPD and the team from the LAFD. With Team captains Chief Charlie Beck and Fire Chief Ralph Terrazas.
