Los Angeles- On March 21, 2004, at about 7:10 p.m., Martin V. Squires, a 34 year-old Santa Monica resident was driving his 1975 Dodge motorhome northbound on Sycamore Avenue from Hollywood Boulevard.
According to a witness, two suspects described as male Hispanics approached Squires motorhome and entered the vehicle. A short time later, the two male Hispanics were seen exiting the vehicle and left in different directions. As the two male Hispanics were exiting the motorhome, the witness observed two other suspects described as male Hispanics and one male Black approach the motorhome.
Squires and the witness said the male Black entered the passenger side of the motorhome and a struggle began in the vehicle. In fear for his life, Squire began pushing the male Black suspect out of the passenger door. In doing so, he accelerated rapidly north on Sycamore, crashing into several parked cars. When the motohome came to rest, the suspect was ejected out of the vehicle, pinned against the curb, partially under the right front wheel of the motorhome.
Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics transported the suspect to a local hospital, where he died.
