Los Angeles: On Tuesday, December 10, 2002, at approximately 11:30 p.m., detectives from the Abused Child Unit responded to the 1400 block of East 15th Street to investigate the death of a newborn baby boy. The child was left abandoned near the residence. There are no leads at this time as to who abandoned the newborn.
The cause of death is pending the outcome of the Coroner’s autopsy.
The public should be reminded of the Safe Haven Law which allows mothers to leave unwanted newborn babies at any hospital or fire station within 72 hours of delivery. These individual will not face any criminal consequences.
