Amtrak Train Kills a Pedestrian NR10608cj

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Valley Traffic Division detectives are asking for the publics’ help in providing information about a traffic accident involving a female pedestrian and an Amtrak train.

On Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at 8:12 p.m., LAPD Valley Traffic Divison officers received a train collision call at the Chatsworth Metrolink station in the 10000 block of Old Plaza Road. When they arrived, they saw what appeared to be a collision between an Amtrak train and a female pedestrian. Los Angeles Fire Department rescue personnel responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.  

The officer’s investigation revealed the pedestrian was a 58-year-old woman resident from San Francisco, Calif., who was walking westbound across a pedestrian platform when she was struck and killed by an Amtrak train traveling southbound from the Chatsworth Metrolink station. The woman’s identity is being withheld until next of kin has been notified.
