Los Angeles: The Los
Angeles Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with
the February 10, 2018 beating of 85-year-old Mi Reum Song.
On Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 1:25 p.m., Mi Reum Song was
brutally struck in the face as she walked to the grocery store in
the area of Olympic Boulevard and Vermont Avenue. Mrs. Song
sustained significant injuries to her head and face as a result of
the attack. Detectives assigned to the case located video from a
local business that showed a person of interest running from the
scene shortly after the crime was committed.
On Monday, February 12, 2018, a press conference was held at
Olympic Community Police Station to request the assistance from the
community in identifying the person of interest. Within hours, the
Los Angeles Police Department received several tips that led to the
identification of 41-year-old Richard Rene Colomo of Bell Gardens.
Colomo is a male Hispanic, five-feet seven-inches tall, weighing
170 pounds.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case
on February 22, 2017 and filed one felony count of Elder Abuse
causing Great Bodily Injury, a violation of Penal Code Section
368(B)(1). A warrant was issued for Colomo’s arrest. Officers from
Olympic Division located and arrested Colomo on February 27,
2018.
The Los Angeles Police Department would like to thank the community
