WHAT: Press Conference announcing the arrest of Joaquin Diaz Orgaz AKA Joaquin Diaz

WHO: Captain III Brian Pratt, Commanding Officer, Devonshire Community Police Station Captain I Bryan Lium, Commanding Officer, Devonshire Patrol Division Lieutenant II Tim Torsney, Officer In Charge, Devonshire Detective Division Chief Steve Zipperman, Chief of Police, Los Angeles School Police LAPD Devonshire Sexual Assault Detectives

WHY: Devonshire Detective Division arrested Joaquin Diaz Orgaz for an inappropriate sexual relationship with a former student. Devonshire Detectives are requesting the Medias’ assistance to identify other potential victims of Orgaz. Mr. Orgaz worked at Valley View Elementary from 2000-2006, Portola Middle School from 2006-2008, Woodland Hills Academy from 2006 to 2011, and Sunny Brae Elementary from December 2011 to the present. Parents who have or had students that may have had contact with Mr. Orgaz are encouraged to speak with their children to ensure the contact was appropriate. The contact may have occurred while Orgaz was acting as a private tutor outside of his employment with LAUSD.
