Assault Victim Dies at Hospital

 
Los Angeles: On February 9, 2003, at 8:20 p.m., the victim, 25 year-old Jesus Ortega was seated inside a parked vehicle at 103rd Street and Figueroa Street. For no apparent reason, an unknown suspect approached and physically assaulted the victim as he sat inside the vehicle. The physical assault continued outside the vehicle and onto the parkway where the victim collapsed.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where he failed to respond to emergency medical treatment and was pronounced dead. The cause of death is pending an examination by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
