Attempt Murder Suspect Arrested NR13221cj

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Wilshire Area detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing information about an attempt murder that occurred in Wilshire Area.

On Friday, June 21, 2013, LAPD Wilshire Area officers received a radio call to investigate an “Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Stabbing” which occurred in the 8000 block of Melrose Ave.  On that afternoon, a family of three from Pennsylvania came to visit Los Angeles and stopped to shop at a clothing store in the 8000 block of Melrose Ave.  The victim’s wife and daughter remained in the clothing store while he stepped outside.  The victim was standing on the sidewalk talking on his cell phone when the suspect rode pass him on a bicycle.  The suspect stopped, walked away from his bicycle, approached the victim with a sharp object and slashed the victim’s neck.  The victim was taken to a local hospital and listed in stable condition.

On June 24, 2013, the forensic artist created a composite sketch of the suspect based on the victim’s description of the suspect.

On June 25, 2013, Wilshire Detectives conducted a follow up investigation to the crime scene when they saw a male Caucasian fitting the description of the suspect.  The suspect was detained and upon receiving positive identification,  was placed under arrest for Attempt Murder.
