WHY:
The Watts Labor Community Action Committee (WLCAC) and the East Side Bike Riders Association (ESBRA) will be providing details of their latest project: Life Lanes, a Safe Passage Project. With the support of the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol, this project will provide the residents of Watts with greater mobility through an outdoor recreational activity in a safe and convenient environment.

Life Lanes will provide designated bicycle lanes while providing educational programs modeled after the Bicycle Education and Registration (BEAR) program that was developed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The Life Lanes route will follow Central Avenue north to 92nd Street; east to Wilmington Avenue; south to Imperial Highway; and west to Central Avenue.  Expansion of the program is planned for the future.
