Bicyclist Dies After Getting Struck By a Hit and Run Driver NR19291rc

Hollywood: The Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect involved in a fatal hit and run that killed a 49-year-old female bicyclist.

On October 25, 2019, around 2:23 a.m., a female bicyclist was riding her bicycle northbound on Orange Drive when she was struck by a four-door silver sedan traveling northbound Orange Drive, north of Hollywood Boulevard. The driver did not stop or render aid to the bicyclist as required by law.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the bicyclist dead at scene. The name of the bicyclists is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
