Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Detectives are asking for the public’s help in their investigation of a woman’s body discovered at a trash sorting facility in Wilmington.
On May 20, 2011, at approximately 6:15p.m., workers at a local trash sorting facility located in the 900 block of East E Street discovered the body of a Black female among the recyclable items being sorted. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office responded to the location along with LAPD Harbor Area Homicide detectives.
During the at-scene investigation, it was learned that this trash sorting facility receives trash and recyclable items from all over Southern California including San Juan Capistrano to areas north of Los Angeles. Investigators believed that the body was likely delivered to the facility earlier that day among the numerous truckloads of recyclables that had been dropped off for processing.
The cause of death could not be determined during the preliminary investigation and the body was taken to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office for a complete forensic examination.
According to investigators, the victim was a female Black in her 20’s and she has not been identified.
