Los Angeles: The Los Angeles
Police Department is seeking public assistance in identifying a
suspect involved in an Assault with Deadly Weapon and a residential
burglary, both of which occurred in the Park La Brea
Apartments.
On March 10, 2015, around 1:40 p.m., the suspect entered the
victim’s Park La Brea residence, located in the 400 block of Curson
Avenue. The victim, who had been home all day, heard something from
the bedroom and went to investigate. When he saw the suspect inside
the living room, holding gloves and a key, he asked the suspect
what he was doing inside the home. At that time, the suspect
produced an unknown caliber handgun and pointed it at the victim.
After ordering the victim to back away, the suspect fled the
location on foot. In this incident, no items were taken from the
home.
A second burglary took place on April 28, 2015, around 4:45 p.m.
The suspect entered another Park La Brea residence, located in the
500 block of Burnside Avenue. The victim, who was also home all
day, heard a noise coming from the front door, but did not see
anyone. Shortly thereafter, the victim saw the suspect inside her
apartment looking through her mail. The victim immediately
recognized the suspect was Korean, and asked him in Korean if he
was lost. Suspect said, “Yes” in English and fled through the front
door. The victim discovered her credit card was missing from the
desk.
In both cases, the victims told investigators that their doors were
locked and believed the suspect was in possession of a key to the
apartments. There were no signs of forced entry and at this time,
it does not appear the suspect is a staff member of the
complex.
The credit card that was taken in the second incident was
immediately used by the suspect at a convenience store where his
image was captured on surveillance. The suspect subsequently used
the credit card at a restaurant and game store.
The suspect is described as a
male Korean in his 20’s, with black hair, standing approximately
six feet tall, and weighing around 160 pounds. The suspect was
wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, and a pair of gold-framed
Ray-Ban aviator style sunglasses.
