Car Crashes into Restaurant NR11007mg

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Valley Traffic Division (VTD) detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing information about a man who crashed his car into a restaurant in North Hollywood.

On Jan. 3, 2011, at around 11:30 a.m., LAPD Valley Traffic officers responded to a collision call on the 5500 block of Cahuenga Boulevard. When officers arrived they saw a car that appeared to have crashed into a restaurant. The officers also saw some people inside the restaurant who appeared to have been involved in the collision.The officers immediately notified Los Angeles Fire Department rescue personnel who then transported the victims to a local hospital and treated them for minor abrasions.

The traffic officers’ investigation revealed that a man driving a 2007-08 Acura Sedan was driving northbound on Cahuenga Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he crashed his car into the restaurant. As the car crashed through a plate glass window of the building, two adults and a child were thrown from their booth due to the impact.   

Officers found the driver inside of his car apparently intoxicated. The officers also discovered numerous aerosol cans inside the man’s car and a handgun.    

The suspect was identified as 35-year-old Geoffrey Hathaway of North Hollywood. He is a white male who stands 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 235 pounds.He was arrested and booked for felony DUI at LAPD’s Van Nuys jail.
