Los Angeles: 77th Street Area Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of 31 year-old Deron Presscott Thomas that occurred on December 19, 2003, at about 4:40 p.m. in the 1700 Block of West 85th Street in Los Angeles.
Thomas was driving his 1979 Cadillac Coupe Deville eastbound on 85th Street towards Normandie Avenue with a 45 year-old male companion who was seated in the right front seat. Unknown suspect(s) in a green 4-door 1990’s Nissan Altima were traveling westbound on 85th Street towards Normandie Avenue. As both cars were passing each other in front of 1728 West 85th Street, multiple shots were fired from the Nissan into the car driven by Thomas. Thomas sustained gunshot wounds to his upper torso.
Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and pronounced Thomas dead at the scene. The 45 year-old passenger was not injured.
The motive appears to be gang related.
